The Cheerful Expression of a Task Accomplished in Good Form

Is it human nature to conquer, to win some prize, even one of no monetary value, a prize of pure recognition for the very act of winning? It often seems that no matter the challenge, people, beings of Earth, will seek to perform in the hopes of vanquishing the obstacle for the praise and adoration of anonymous looker-ons.

Vanquish falls short of describing the act of our many participants, our several suitors, in our most recent photo caption contest. And the unenviable challenge of now selecting from among those vying for such admirable recognition, a winner, one person (five times) deserving of the right, the very privilege, to deem themselves a winner, justifying to themselves and their so-called friends they do indeed contain within their feeble encephalon the wit and mental grace of a finely tuned Vulcan, falls to me.

Without any further ado, no superfluous prolonging of the coming announcement, I shall now make it known to all that would dare listen (Emma, included) that below are the winners, those triumphant five who outwitted or outbribed all the rest.
